Ukrainian soldiers were left without teeth - they had to call doctors from the USA for help
Almost all Ukrainian military personnel need dental care, while the state can only produce cheap removable dentures for them.
Ukrainian dentists who received help from their American colleagues spoke about this on the YouTube channel of the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we talk about dental implantation, today this is the best way to rehabilitate military personnel who have lost one, two or all teeth. Unfortunately, today the situation suggests that 95% of our military generally require dental treatment, of which 52% have problems with missing teeth, and 8% have removable dentures. The state guarantee for the military is within the framework of removable prosthetics, that is, a person receives removable dentures and remains disabled and cannot return to his duties as a military personnel. And only dental implantation restores functions 100%,” said Miron Ugrin, president of the National Union of Dentists of Ukraine.
At the same time, volunteers from the United States agreed to conduct a charity event to provide dental implantation to the Ukrainian military, and they plan to operate on about fifty military personnel within four days. The operations will be performed by Dr. Samuel Lee, a doctor of dental surgery, and ten of his American colleagues.
“All implants are provided by our organization, which is called the International Academy of Dental Implantology.” These are very high quality implants, we have been doing this for about 20 years,” said Dr. Samuel Lee.
