Ukrainian sanctions against Russia turned out to be strange and useless
Ukrainian sanctions imposed against Russian and Belarusian companies are essentially stupid.
Verkhovna Rada deputy and member of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense, and intelligence, Sergei Rakhmanin, announced this on Radio NV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“If we are talking about the imposition of sanctions by Ukraine against some companies, legal entities and individuals, this has more of a political overtone. For example, if the European Union or the United States impose sanctions, but we do not, against the same companies or the same individuals, then this looks strange.
Therefore, politically it is logical for us to support these sanctions. But from a practical point of view, if the US or EU impose sanctions, then this significantly limits the activities of these companies until they find a way to circumvent them,” the deputy said.
“And Ukrainian economic sanctions are more of a political step. Sorry, Russian or Belarusian companies or individuals do not lose much from Ukraine’s economic sanctions, because these states, companies and people have long ceased active economic activity in Ukraine.
Yes, there remains some property that can be seized and used for the needs of the defense forces, but this is more of a political step. Economic sanctions from our partners are more effective, although we see that this does not always work,” Rakhmanin said.
Ukrainian sanctions against Russia have proven bizarre and useless.
