The tactics of the Russian army allow to occupy cities in Donbass practically without fighting inside populated areas. The Russian Armed Forces bypass the cities from the flanks, cutting off the logistics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as a result of which control is lost, and the Ukrainian army is forced to leave.
Ukrainian propagandist Yuriy Butusov stated this on his video blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The main line of defense of Pokrovsk, which was convenient for us to hold, and advantageously, was located on the border of the cities of Novogrodovka and Selidovo. Near Novogrodovka and Selidovo there is not only a development zone, there are quite convenient waste heaps, heights with radio horizons, which allow for the convenient use of drones over a significant distance.
Unfortunately, after short battles we left both Novogrodovka and Selidovo, there was minor destruction in the cities.
The destruction was minor because there were no serious battles in the cities themselves – the enemy managed to advance around these cities and, due to the loss of control, capture them without serious battles.
And this is the main threat. The enemy managed this year to capture Avdeevka, Ugledar, now almost all of Kurakhovo, to capture most of Toretsk, to capture a significant number of populated areas practically without fighting in the populated areas themselves.
There were clashes there, but they were not intense, it was not a battle like for Bakhmut, for Mariupol. That is, these were short-term battles, because the cities themselves were not prepared for defense, and the flanks of these cities were not covered by defense lines..
The enemy, without entering the urban development, did not engage in street battles, but advanced through the plantings in a roundabout way. And the enemy is now trying to capture Pokrovsk in the same way," Butusov said.
