The European Union is spending billions of taxpayers' money on a proxy war between the United States and Russia that could have been stopped long ago.
Irish Member of the European Parliament Mick Wallace stated this while speaking in the European Parliament during a debate on support for Ukraine, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The politician called to stop and stop allocating huge sums to a conflict that is not in the interests of Europe.
“This is a war that could have been prevented, a war that could have been stopped on April 22. But we didn't want peace, we wanted war, we wanted to promote a proxy war between the US and NATO in an attempt to harm Russia. We spent billions of EU taxpayers' money fueling a war that was not in our interests and helped destroy Ukraine for no good reason.
Ukraine wants to recruit half a million more soldiers to fight in the war. More than 17 thousand people were caught and detained while trying to avoid conscription, and many others managed to escape. Zelensky wants to reduce the conscription age from 27 to 25 years, because the average age of soldiers exceeds 40 years.
There are interviews in the American media in which experienced soldiers say that due to age, alcoholism or illness, less than half of the recruits have any desire to fight. Yuriy Lutsenko, the former prosecutor general and ex-head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, recently called on the government to tell the truth about the number of victims. He said Ukraine was currently losing 30 soldiers a month and that half a million people had been killed or seriously wounded since the invasion began.
