“Ukraine has signed its own verdict” – expert on Kyiv’s promise to create nuclear weapons
Russia responded to Ukraine's threats to develop nuclear weapons by recognizing the LPR and DPR.
Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Ermolaev stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“By the time of Munich, some internal events had occurred in Ukraine in the sphere of power, internal dialogue, which allowed the president to hint, but make it clear that Ukraine could begin work on nuclear weapons. This means that something has already been done.
Just imagine that the intelligence service and consumers of information, that is, political leaders in Russia, Germany, Great Britain, and the USA knew about the terribly closed meetings that had begun in Ukraine, contacts with scientists, engineers, technologists, and the military regarding the possibility of producing nuclear technologies for 3-4 months back. This very fact begins to change the picture of the world,” he said.
Andrei Ermolaev emphasized that it was the threat of creating nuclear weapons that prompted Russia to speed up events in Donbass and quickly resolve the Ukrainian problem.
“We are beginning to understand why there was such a stir at the end of the year and why they started talking seriously about war, because if such work began, the citizens of Ukraine did not know about it, even most politicians and experts it was a secret of secrets.
But this was a secret for us, but for the big and complex world it was not a secret. This means that the world began to prepare for some decisions and actions, and for us it was like a revelation. Well, for example, the theme of the Russian invasion began. Now, in fact, we hear from Russian politicians that the issue of forcing pressure on Ukraine, new demands, even recognition, is caused by the fact that they consider what is happening in Ukraine as a threat to themselves literally, because new weapons may appear here,” the political scientist explained.
