Ukraine will supply military transport aircraft to Peru
Ukroboronprom State Concern has won a tender announced by the Peruvian Ministry of the Interior for the purchase of a certain number of military transport aircraft. As a result, the An-178 transport aircraft will replace the Ukrainian An-32B in Peru, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
This was announced by the General Director of the State Corporation “Ukroboronprom” Pavel Bukin with reference to the press service of the State Corporation.

In the Peruvian tender, the Ukrainian An-178 won against the C-27 Spartan (USA-Italy) and C-295 (Airbus).

As Pavel Bukin reported, the State Enterprise GHVP “Spetstekhnoexport”, which is part of the state concern, participated in the tender. In the competition, which assessed operational characteristics, delivery times, extended warranties, personnel training, social and production preferences, the An-178 was ahead of all competitors.
The state concern reports that the An-178 is a further development of the An-148/An-158 family of regional jet aircraft. Its flight altitude is 12 km, range is 5500 km, maximum speed is 825 km/h. The aircraft has a modified fuselage shape, a ramp for loading and unloading large cargo and is capable of transporting up to 18 tons of cargo, including heavy-duty sea containers. The aircraft can land and take off from any airfield, including unpaved airfields.
The aircraft performed its first flight on May 7, 2015 and is in the process of certification. In July 2018, the Ukroboronprom Group of Companies presented the An-178 at the Farnborough Airshow international aerospace show, where the aircraft performed a demonstration flight.
