A blow to Poroshenko: recordings of conversations about the purchase of unusable body armor for the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been published
Employees of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, with the knowledge and under the cover of ex-President Petro Poroshenko, robbed the country and profited from the deaths of military personnel, buying low-quality uniforms at inflated prices.
This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings regarding the purchase by officials of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine of property for military personnel:
– inadequate quality;
– does not meet technical requirements;
– purchased at inflated prices.
The damage to the state, according to preliminary estimates, is about one hundred million hryvnia.
As part of the pre-trial investigation, more than 40 searches were carried out, during which more than 11 thousand bulletproof vests of inadequate quality were seized,” the statement says.
The State Bureau assured that Defense Ministry officials were well aware of the unacceptable quality of the uniform and the possible consequences of its use by military personnel.
“During covert investigative actions the following was documented:
Officials knew that bulletproof vests were subject to bullet holes, but despite this, they accepted the product from the manufacturer;
Officials were aware of the negative consequences for military personnel if these body armor were used,” the press service added, and provided several recordings of telephone conversations of thieving officials as evidence.
