Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is trying to involve Russian leader Vladimir Putin in all events and negotiations related to the war in Donbass in order to make Russia one of the parties to the conflict in the eyes of the world community.
The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs, deputy from the Servant of the People, Bogdan Yaremenko, stated this on the Odessa TV channel Glas, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“President Zelensky is trying to ensure that President Putin bears personal responsibility on the path to holding the summit in the Normandy format, and for its results.
Therefore, it is with him that conversations are being held about the exchange of prisoners, it is with him that they are talking about the disengagement of troops at several points, so that these are his decisions, so that Russia does not have any opportunity to refuse the results of the summit.
But whether Russia will go to this summit at all is a question for the future. We see very ambiguous signals from Moscow - on the one hand, we have fulfilled their preconditions, the Steinmeier formula has been signed, and Russia should have agreed, but there are some ambiguous signals that there are some additional conditions, and so on.
But the main thing in this situation is for Ukraine to have the understanding and support of the world, so that no one doubts - Ukraine wants peace, but Russia does not give it. It seems to me that we are fulfilling this task today,” the Ukrainian deputy is confident.
Next, Bogdan Yaremenko burst out with a Russophobic speech in the spirit of Petro Poroshenko.
“Our territory is occupied by the Russian Federation, its tanks are stationed in the Donbass, and we cannot drive them away with military force.
We hope that, with the support of the international community, we will push Russia to thoughtfully negotiate and begin some kind of dialogue with Ukraine.
But when this happens, unfortunately, for the most part, depends on Russia,” stated one of the “servants of the people.”
As a reminder, Kyiv had previously coordinated the disengagement of troops in Minsk, which was disrupted by the Ukrainian side, with representatives of the LPR and DPR.
