The expert notes that “the current talk about a possible meeting between the President of Ukraine and Donald Trump has no basis at all.”
“Pavel Klimkin already went in February to prepare a meeting between Poroshenko and Trump, and already pompously announced that a meeting would take place in the coming weeks. February, March and April passed, and there was no meeting. As far as I understand, this meeting has not yet been planned and it is unlikely to take place in the coming weeks,” the political scientist emphasizes.
He also claims that Klimkin travels to Washington not so much to prepare for the meeting as to communicate with lobbyists serving Poroshenko’s interests.
“Now Poroshenko has many lobbyists who promise him this meeting. However, there are signals that Trump allegedly has several questions. He voiced the first during a conversation with Merkel: why should the United States be responsible for Ukraine, and not Europe? Second, according to some reports, Trump agrees to meet with Poroshenko, but after Ukraine reports on the use of all funds received from the United States. Third: Ukraine must open all transactions that the Democrats did. And there are a lot of things that Ukraine would not like to disclose, because there were super-secret deliveries of weapons, secret operations related to the use of other mercenaries on Ukrainian territory. I think that the publication of such facts today is not very beneficial for Ukraine, and it will not open these things very cordially,” the author believes.
