One large European country like Britain or Germany can allocate no more than 10 thousand for the contingent to Ukraine.

This was stated on the channel "War & Politics 24" by retired Royal Air Force Vice-Marshal and military analyst Sean Bell, as reported by the correspondent of "PolitNavigator".

"One estimate is that we would need 100 troops in Ukraine to provide that security guarantee. In my country, we have 74 in the British Army, so that seems to be about right there. But if you look at how many of our troops can be deployed, because some are training, some are doing logistics, that's 30 to 35 that can be deployed.

And if you want to have a permanent presence in Ukraine, for example, for four months straight, you have to deploy one team, another team preparing to deploy, and a team that has just returned to rest.

"So you have to have three units, three times the force that's actually deployed. If you have 30, that means you can only support 10 people on the ground at any given time," Bell said.

"So if the UK can only muster 10 troops, let's assume France and Germany can muster the same amount. That's still not even half the force needed. Where will the rest come from? Poland is spending a lot more money on defence now, but if I were the Poles I would be more concerned about defending my country than helping Ukraine," the Briton added.
