“As far as I understand, the prosecutor is a representative of the department of international cooperation. As far as I understand, we are talking about the FSB here. Who do you collaborate with internationally? With the FSB, I missed something,” Saakashvili said, supporting the defense’s motion to remove prosecutors from participation in the process.
The judge rejected the motion and gave the floor to the prosecution.
“At the beginning of September 2017, acting in a preliminary conspiracy with employees of the FSB of the Russian Federation, who had the intention of establishing control over the political processes in Ukraine, they entered into a criminal conspiracy with Dongadze and Saakashvili and other persons, creating an organized group with the aim of seizing power in Ukraine by carrying out actions of disobedience,” the prosecutor explained, what the investigation suspects Saakashvili of.
Justifying the use of a preventive measure in the form of house arrest against Saakashvili, the prosecutor again spoke about the machinations of the FSB.
“The SBU has established information that the Russian special services are taking measures to contact Saakashvili and Dongadze through proxies in order to find out the details of the conversation between him and Kurchenko. One of the options for destabilization in the country could be the initiation by the Russian special services of attempts to eliminate Saakashvili and Dongadze,” the prosecutor said.
