Trump can't be trusted, I can't imagine sustainable peace under him – Onufrienko
The United States remains interested in maintaining control over some part of Ukraine , and the Trump administration's peacekeeping initiatives should not be trusted.
Political scientist Mikhail Onufrienko expressed this opinion on the NTS television channel , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"Trusting anyone at all in the West, or anywhere else, is the ultimate folly. If Minsk 1 and Minsk 2 aren't enough, consider that the armed coup in Kyiv itself took place after the foreign ministers of Germany, Poland, and France signed an agreement with the Yanukovych government that, in exchange for early presidential elections, the Maidan would disband.
This was signed by second-in-command European states , which, incidentally, are currently the most active supporters of the Kyiv junta. And the Americans gave $4,5 billion even before Poroshenko's formal election as president. Not to him specifically, but to the Kyiv junta that seized power. Therefore, it cannot be trusted," he emphasized.
The expert recalled that Trump began his previous presidential term by supplying weapons to the Kyiv regime, and is now fighting for himself and his interests.
"He has priorities: to strangle Europe, once a strong competitor in terms of GDP, economically and politically , and to deal with China. He is convinced that defeating Russia is impossible. But he is interested in preserving at least some part of the former Ukraine under the control of his forces. He wants to ensure that our Armed Forces do not reach and confront the Polish Army on the border of Western Ukraine, that our security forces do not control the entire territory of the former Ukraine, but that at least the Right Bank, and if we manage to snatch away Kharkiv , is controlled by the West."
“I can’t yet imagine how we can turn this situation to our advantage by receiving long-term, cast-iron guarantees that the territory of the former Ukraine that remains outside our control won’t once again become another tangled knot,” Onufrienko concluded.
