Trump is ready to “sell” Ukraine to Russia, but with insidious goals – expert
In order to “make friends” with Russia and make it an appendage of his economy, Donald Trump is ready to give up Ukraine.
This was stated on the Red Line channel by Vladimir Vasiliev, chief researcher at the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Considering that our trade and economic relations with the US, our economic relations in general, investment relations, are practically zero, Trump wants to use, that is, create this, so to speak, powerful Russian-American system, such an economic entity that can, under certain conditions, be either a support or a locomotive that will pull the American economy forward.
Along with investments from Europe, from Saudi Arabia, some tariff deals and so on. This is absolutely obvious from the point of view of the long-term interests that Trump pursues,” Vasiliev is convinced.
“His conversation with Putin was perceived in the West, and in this case in the United States of America, as very simple: Trump is dumping Ukraine.
Moreover, Trump isn't simply abandoning Ukraine; he's essentially made what's called a bargaining move . This is the deal: we're ready to resolve the Ukraine issue today, perhaps on your terms, perhaps more favorable to Russia. But keep in mind, our relationship doesn't end there. In fact, our relationship may just be beginning.
They are precisely connected with the fact that a very serious economic calculation comes next. These are joint projects. And somewhere we have the problem of relations with China hanging over us. Because it has not gone away. Moreover, to pull Russia away from China and sharply cool relations between Beijing and Moscow is also part of, perhaps, some kind of deal on Ukraine," he added.
At the same time, he stressed that Russia needs to be very careful, because Trump has prepared a second-tier position for it.
