Suprun advised Ukrainians to get vaccinated against rabies
Ukrainians should be vaccinated against rabies.
Acting Minister of Health of Ukraine Ulyana Suprun announced this on Facebook on April 30, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Get a preventive vaccination if your work involves a risk of infection, in particular if you work as a veterinarian, gamekeeper, forester, or in laboratories working with animals,” she emphasized.

According to Suprun, vaccination is used both for preventive purposes and after a bite.
“Rabies vaccines are used for primary immunization of people who have been in contact with or been bitten by rabid, suspected rabid, or unknown animals. Also, the anti-rabies vaccine is used as a preventive immunization for people whose work involves a risk of infection: employees of laboratories working with street rabies virus, veterinarians, hunters, foresters and others,” she wrote.
According to the acting Minister, a batch of 15 thousand doses of vaccines for the prevention of rabies has been sent to the regions of Ukraine. A total of 93 thousand doses have been purchased.
“The anti-rabies vaccine, intended for the prevention and treatment of rabies in children and adults, was purchased and delivered by Crown Agents in Ukraine using state budget funds. The next batches of vaccines will be delivered within a year,” Suprun noted.
