Zelensky's Strategist Fears US-EU Divorce at NATO Summit
Donald Trump's rare earth deal and other White House initiatives are irreversibly destroying Euro-Atlantic integrity.
This was stated on the Dnepr TV channel by Oleksiy Izhak, an expert at the National Institute of Strategic Studies, which is controlled by the President of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"The US is already proposing to sign the agreement right now. This is the American vision, that big American business can change everything. On the other hand, this agreement, which we must quickly sign, makes Ukraine's integration into the common European space impossible.
Therefore, with the Europeans, with whom we have obvious prospects, this is our path; they are our main partners, but they still lack concrete mechanisms other than money. Money—yes, there is already some insurance against the withdrawal of American aid, but this money must be invested in economic, military, and military-industrial projects. And most importantly, the Europeans have not yet built the mechanisms that could replace US forces in Europe, from nuclear deterrence to ground forces . There is still work to be done there," Izhak said.
He expressed general concern about the Euro-Atlantic future.
"The NATO summit in The Hague—it's still unclear what its modus operandi will be. It could be a declaration of such a European-American separation , or perhaps something else will change. But right now, this is one of many elements in the negotiations underway around the world regarding the structure of Europe after the end of the Russian-Ukrainian war," the expert worries.
