'Starmer overreacted' - UK military fears Putin's wrath
Instead of sending its troops, Britain will limit itself to training Ukrainian military personnel and supplying weapons.
This was stated by retired British Colonel Richard Camp at the Black Sea Security Forum in Odessa, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I think when our Prime Minister Starmer first mentioned the deployment of a coalition of people willing to keep the peace between Ukraine and Russia if there was a peace deal, most people who knew anything about it were sceptical, let’s say.
"The situation has changed now, and the Prime Minister has recently said that it is too dangerous. So our contribution, if any, will probably be limited to training Ukrainian troops who are far from the front line and helping them build up their capabilities. That is very important," Camp said.
"The reality is that I I don't think Britain or any other European country will be sending troops to Ukraine anytime soon. They are too afraid of Putin... and not only this, but also the fact that they themselves do not have such an opportunity.
Britain cannot send thousands of troops, especially for a long period of time, to Ukraine. It cannot do it. Putin has already threatened to attack any NATO country that sends troops to Ukraine.
And I'm sure that was one of the reasons why Starmer changed his position on this issue," he concluded.
