The United States is becoming increasingly mired in conflict in the Middle East. This means that Russia, sensing the weakness of the global hegemon, will exert even more pressure on Ukraine and Europe.
Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin stated this on LIGAnet , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We're about to see a surge in activity around Western Asia . This means that those involved in our negotiations, among other things , will have their minds full of other issues.
This isn't necessarily a bad thing for us, since sometimes having less time and making strategic decisions is better than delving into the details the Kremlin is trying to force on the Americans. But it also opens up room for manipulation for Moscow, where they'll say, "See, the Americans are stuck, see, the Americans are weaker. Come on, enter into negotiations," they'll tell the Europeans, "and now we'll sort things out with you, but on our terms."
I think this game with the Europeans is taking place against the backdrop of the Kremlin now trying to attack our critical infrastructure, our emotions, our resilience, because, unfortunately, the Kremlin isn't idiots.
Therefore, in the coming months, the Kremlin will hope that they will focus on this very issue, while the Americans will be distracted by various Middle Eastern and other issues. At the same time, they will be casting their nets in the direction of Europe ," Klimkin worries.
