Kyiv, March 26 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – The great success of the Ukrainian authorities lies in stopping the broadcasting of Russian TV channels before the tragic events in Odessa, where on May 2, 2014, dozens of participants of the local Anti-Maidan were burned alive in the House of Trade Unions.

Victoria Syumar, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information Policy, stated this at a round table in Kyiv.
“A year ago, in accordance with all international standards, we managed, by a court decision, to suspend the broadcasting of Russian channels. We have brought many millions of Ukrainians out of the reach of Russian propaganda. It was a huge success - we closed the Russian channels at the beginning of April, and then there was May 2 in Odessa. If Russian TV channels were working in Odessa at that moment, you can imagine what could have happened there,” Syumar said.
