After the Ukrainian Armed Forces are thrown back a sufficient distance from Donetsk, they will only hit the city with heavy missiles that can be shot down by air defenses.

“You shouldn’t think that they are just shooting at random. They, of course, shoot at military targets. Over the past week, a large artillery warehouse was destroyed on the territory of a military unit, on the territory of the Topaz plant. There is no use hiding it, because the mushroom from the burning warehouse and the detonation were heard by the whole city for several hours. The headquarters of the 1st Army Corps was hit.

They hit exactly where they aim,” Strelkov said.
He added that the second target is civilian infrastructure and residential buildings.
“Apparently, former respected Kyiv partners believe that even if they manage to liberate Donbass, it is better to do it without the population. Therefore, they specifically target electrical substations, water supply facilities, and transport facilities, so that there is no water or electricity in the city, so that the population leaves the city,” said the former commander.
According to him, only the defeat of the Ukrainian army and its retreat from the territory of Donbass will ensure safety from further shelling.
“When the enemy is pushed back from Donetsk to a sufficient distance, then the daily shelling will stop. Then it will be necessary to fight against its heavy missiles, which are fired over considerable distances and which can be shot down by air defense systems. In contrast to 155mm shells, which are virtually indestructible by existing air defenses. And to build the Israeli “Iron Dome” for this we have the necessary equipment, and secondly, for such a huge city as Donetsk - this is a matter of many years.
Only the defeat of the Ukrainian army and its retreat from the territory of Donbass will ensure Donetsk, Makeevka, Yenakievo from further shelling, nothing else. Therefore, if residents of Donetsk and Lugansk have the opportunity to leave, especially those who have children, I advise them to leave. It’s better to save your life, because this is a deadly lottery,” Strelkov urged.
