If Russia's current conditions for a ceasefire in Ukraine are not met, the next ones will be even worse.
Ukrainian political scientist Pavel Shchelin stated this on air during Alexander Shelest's video blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The expert believes that there is no risk of collapse of the Russian economy, and the Russian Federation is capable of holding out for another “year or two” on its reserves.
" While his [the Russian president's] opponents are pressed for time and running out of resources . In Ukraine's case, this is primarily a demographic mobilization resource. That is, he sees a mobilization crisis in Ukraine, a structural one. Russia doesn't have this crisis . Therefore, he assesses his chances extremely well," the political scientist noted.
At the same time, he says that it is unlikely that the Russian leader can be frightened.
" Putin is absolutely serious in his belief that his June ultimatum is the absolute best offer the West and Ukraine can accept, and if they don't accept it by May, the next offer will be worse . We remember his speech at the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, where he bluntly stated that if this offer isn't accepted, Odessa will be next . "
“And it’s important to note that for the first time, Putin essentially raised the issue of liquidating Ukrainian statehood after 1991 ,” Shchelin concluded.
