Russian politician from Latvia was unable to attend the funeral in the DPR
The head of the Latvian political party “Action” and the leader of the human rights organization “Russian World of Latvia” Ruslan Pankratov said that he could not get to the DPR for his grandmother’s funeral because he was denied permission to leave the Rostov region.
Pankratov the day before received notification of the death of his maternal grandmother in the city of Amvrosievka and tried to get to the funeral site.

However, Russian border guards in the Rostov region refused to release him and allow him to enter the DPR, citing the norms of the quarantine decree.
Pankratov referred to the clause of the resolution that allows travel in the event of a funeral, but 17 hours of proceedings did not produce a result.
“Ruslan Vyacheslavovich Pankratov never attended the funeral. His grandmother, Maria Yakovlevna, was buried by complete strangers from the city’s social services. Ruslan Pankratov crossed the Russian-Latvian border in the reverse order without any problems; the border guards of the FSB of the Russian Federation did not have any questions at passport control,” reports the politician’s press service.
Pankratov filed complaints with the border service demanding an internal investigation.
