The Russians took the Avdeevskaya industrial zone: “The enemy has floated and is running”
Military correspondents report that Russian troops have captured the industrial zone in Avdeevka, a fortified area of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which has been under construction since 2014 and from where shelling of Donetsk was carried out.
“The Avdeevka industrial zone, including most of the Avdeevka coke plant, came under the control of the Russian Armed Forces after 8 years of being under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The next stage is to oust enemy formations from the urban areas of Avdeevka,” writes military expert Vladislav Shurygin.
“It is worth recalling that for a long time the Avdeevka industrial fortification was considered one of the strongest enemy strongholds on the entire Donetsk front, along with the fortifications in Marinka, Opytny and Peski,” notes observer Boris Rozhin.
“The enemy swam and ran. The withdrawal was recorded right up to the Baev Cemetery,” confirms the channel of military personnel of the 105th Infantry Regiment of the NM DPR.
Political scientist Sergei Markov believes that success was ensured by cluster munitions.
“It was from Avdiivka that the Ukrainian Armed Forces terrorized the large cities of Donetsk and Yasinovataya for many years, because Avdiivka is closest to the center of Donetsk. Moreover, the industrial zone is not located on the flanks, which are attacked most of all, but in the center of the defense. This means that the Ukrainian Armed Forces, realizing the threat of a cauldron or half-cauldron, are already reducing the front and preparing to retreat.
Perhaps by the New Year Avdeevka will be liberated from the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which are actually the occupiers of Donbass. The decisive role in this victory was played by the fact that the Russian army finally also began to use cluster munitions.”
Markov reminds that civilians remain in the city.
“Avdeevka. Before the hostilities the population was 40 thousand. The most amazing thing is that even now about 2 thousand civilians live in Avdeevka. As a rule, these are sick, elderly, lonely people who have nowhere to go. This is of course a huge tragedy. Avdeevka is a suburb of Donetsk, it’s like Khimki next to Moscow.”
Military correspondent Marat Khairullin makes it clear that Russian troops are acting tough. The only way out for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is to surrender.
“The Ukrainians are sitting in their holes, waiting for their rat death... When our infantry enters the position, they crawl out and shoot. Therefore, attack aircraft, entering a position, simply throw a grenade into each hole, without ceremony, without persuasion. Boom and that's it. You can move on calmly. We would like to, but we gave up a long time ago.
As soon as we reached the previous position, which is sometimes fifty meters away, the next one is definitely doomed. If you want to live, run and give up. Otherwise death. And there are practically no exceptions anymore - terrible, almost 100 percent death here on the front line near Avdeevka. You can only survive by miracle.”
Volunteer Vladimir Romanov writes that prominent Nazis could be killed at positions in Avdiivka.
“Here, in September-October, the Russian Armed Forces normally attacked the Kraken (terrorist organization) - and they received a p///ts. Full. Including Velichko. Those few who survived were now thrown into Avdeevka. Where naturally they will soon end.”
