Russia is preparing a response to the freezing of funds in the West
The Central Bank is considering the possibility of compensating the funds of Russian depositors frozen abroad at the expense of funds of foreign depositors frozen in Russia.
Bank of Russia Governor Elvira Nabiullina announced this today at a joint meeting of the State Duma committees, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The financial institutions themselves, through which the assets of our citizens were frozen, are working with us in foreign jurisdictions, preparing various claims and negotiations. For our part, we are looking at what measures we could take.
We had one of the ideas. Since the assets of non-residents from unfriendly countries in our jurisdiction were frozen in response, income from these funds is also accumulating there. They could be sent to compensate for the losses of our retail investors, primarily the mass investor.
We are discussing such schemes. There are also alternative exchange schemes,” Nabiullina said.
