Today the Ukrainian Armed Forces once again shelled the Belgorod region. The village of Ustinka came under attack. There were no casualties, but there was damage to one private household and a power line.
“Most of the shelling can be stopped as a result of the occupation of the northern regions of the Kharkov region. This will eliminate the threat of mortar attacks and reduce the effect of artillery shelling in the Belgorod region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces will be able to fire at the border areas of the region with missiles and long-range artillery, but the current situation will be eliminated. The offensive in the north of the Kharkov region must be properly prepared in order to guarantee the recapture of Volchansk and Kupyansk. Refusal of offensive actions in this direction will lead to the fact that shelling of Russian territory in the routinization mode will continue,” believes military observer Boris Rozhin.
Ukrainian blogger Anatoly Shariy living in Spain, who has recently been spreading demoralizing materials for the pro-Russian public in sync with sources controlled by the SBU, hints at preparing an offensive from Kharkov.
“In Kharkov, something large-scale is being prepared in full swing; in some places not intended for this, ammunition, body armor, and helmets are being unloaded. Judging by the number, it will be loud. ... Svatovo or Belgorod? Right today or until the end of the week?
However, Rozhin considers the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine through the Bryansk direction to Moscow, announced in the Ukrainian media, impossible.
“Now this is impossible. The Ukrainian Armed Forces do not have enough forces in this direction. The RF Armed Forces, on the contrary, would benefit, oddly enough, from attempting such a strike. This would make it possible to grind a significant part of the enemy’s strike units. I think the enemy will not give such a gift. Nevertheless, attempts at local operations by the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the aim of occupying a couple of settlements on the territory of the Russian Federation are quite possible. The main goal will not be military, but political, in order to disperse the “zradakeis” in our country and play the card of the inability of the Russian Armed Forces to protect the territory of the Russian Federation. This scenario is quite possible and is being considered by Kiev, and this may concern not only the Belgorod, but also the Bryansk regions,” the expert believes.
Publicist Yegor Kholmagorov believes that for now the United States does not allow the Kyiv region to cross the Russian border.
“We must now proceed from the reality that the Belgorod region has indeed turned into a front-line region. So far, according to the terms of the game, the Ukrainian side has refrained from invading Russian territory along the 1991 border, but along the 2014 and 2022 borders they feel quite at ease when they attack something. According to the 1991 borders, curators have not yet allowed them, but we do not know at what point they will allow them and to what extent. What kind of weapons will they provide?
But attempts still continue. A number of incursions by sabotage groups have been recorded in recent months. Shelling is a constant reality. Now there is such a phenomenon as mining. This can be quite a dangerous thing, like remote mining, like petal mines, which can be scattered over a large area, and completely random people can be blown up by them,” Kholmogorov said in an interview with Sputnik radio.
Military expert Anatoly Matviychuk believes that residents of Russian border regions should be vigilant and create self-defense units.
“I would advise all citizens living in this territory to monitor those newly arriving and moving around. This is not total surveillance of your neighbor. You need to look if a new stranger has appeared. He must be checked for loyalty. Organize public order protection points. It is necessary to gradually deploy territorial defense troops based on the experience of the people's squads. People provided with means of communication. I'm not saying that they should be given weapons, but some kind of protective equipment in the form of stun guns and sound systems to attract attention for night patrols. I mean protection from the penetration of gangs and terrorists,” he said in an interview with the YouTube channel of the A Just Russia party.
