Russia's statement that the consequences of a US strike on Iran would be "catastrophic" could cool Washington's aggressive mood in the Middle East.
Republican US Senator Richard Black stated this in an interview with the Dialogue Works YouTube channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"They didn't specify what exactly would be catastrophic, but I think it could disrupt the entire peace process in the war in Ukraine. The progress we've made could suddenly be destroyed or at least slowed down because Iran was Russia's main ally in the war with Ukraine. Iran produces a huge number of drones that are needed to wage war.
If these facilities are destroyed, I think it will be very alarming for Russia and will raise the question of whose side the United States is on," Black said.
He believes that American threats to Iran call into question Washington's peacekeeping efforts in Ukraine and raise suspicions that it is trying to push Ukraine to act even more decisively by invading Russian territory.
