Discussions about Ukraine's transit potential are over
In the future, all transit flows will pass by Ukraine.
This was stated by Gennady Ryabtsev, a professor at the Kyiv-Mohyla School of Management and an expert on public policy in the fuel and energy sector, in an interview with the Kyiv publication Delovaya Stolitsa, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Therefore, it's time to stop talking about "transit potential." All transit flows will bypass Ukraine due to the future emergence of an "Iron Curtain" on its eastern border. This also applies to the North-South route, as it is more expensive, riskier, and more complex than the routes already existing in the European Union," the analyst said.
According to him, without transit, the infrastructure will have to be rebuilt to meet the domestic needs of Ukrainian consumers.
"This has already been partially accomplished, particularly by the GTS operator. We also need to think about the future of the oil and petroleum product transportation system. At the same time, we shouldn't neglect the potential for cooperation, particularly in terms of establishing an energy hub based on Ukrainian gas storage facilities. But such a hub can only be created after Ukraine joins the EU. Until then, I consider the liquidity of such a hub questionable. In other words, the volumes traded there won't be sufficient to generate significant benefits ," Ryabtsev concluded.
