Putin on military maneuvers near Ukraine: Everything will go according to plan
Russian President Vladimir Putin made it clear that Russia's further actions after the partial withdrawal of troops from the Ukrainian border will depend on the behavior of Kyiv and the West.
He stated this today at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Moscow, reports a correspondent "PolitNavigator".
“How will Russia act next? According to plan. What will it be made of? From the real situation on the ground. So far no one can answer how it will develop. It depends not only on us. But we will strive to negotiate with our partners on the issues that we raised through diplomatic means,” Putin said.
He also spoke about Ukraine's possible entry into NATO, which, as they say in Europe, will not happen soon.
“What does it mean to “talk” in interstate relations? We have been told for 30 years now that there will be no NATO expansion at all, not even one inch towards the Russian borders. And today we see NATO infrastructure right next to our home. Moreover, Ukraine's accession to NATO is being discussed. They say it won't happen tomorrow. And when? Day after tomorrow? What does this change for us from a historical perspective? Absolutely nothing.
We hear that Ukraine is not ready today to join NATO. We know this thesis. And then they say that they won’t accept her tomorrow. And she will be accepted when she is prepared for this. But for us it may be too late. Therefore, we want to resolve this issue now. Right in the near future during the negotiation process,” Putin said.
