The failure of all hopes for compensation for Nord Stream 2 is a good kick to Zelensky
The agreement between the United States and Germany on Nord Stream 2 and the assistance it provides for Ukraine is a failure of all hopes of receiving compensation in connection with the introduction of Nord Stream 2.
President of the Ukrainian Analytical Center Alexander Okhrimenko told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
He believes that now the Ze-team will supposedly draw some reasonable conclusions from this.
“It was clear in advance that Ukraine would not receive anything from this agreement. Even the amount of investment that was mentioned there, a billion dollars, is nothing. And on the one hand, it’s even good that there is such an agreement, since this should sober up both Zelensky and his team.
They will stop constantly looking at Germany, the United States and expecting some kind of help from them and, perhaps, will really take care of the Ukrainian economy for Ukraine.
The US and Germany can really give a billion dollars to green energy. But this cannot be called significant help, it is a failure - after all, Ukraine wanted to receive tens of billions, but here they are offering a billion, and not just like that, but for green energy.
That is, this is not even pure money, this is money that can be spent on the purchase of equipment in Germany. That is, this entire agreement is a complete failure, but this is a good result, since it will be a shake-up for the Ukrainian leadership so that it stops constantly looking at Western partners,” argues Alexander Okhrimenko.
