This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by Lyubov Pankratova, head of the Agrarian Union of Ukraine's Department of Agricultural Markets, as reported by PolitNavigator correspondent . She noted that buckwheat and rice always create a buying frenzy in Ukraine.
“This year, less buckwheat was sown than in previous years,” the expert noted. – When compared with 2013, it is two times less. Accordingly, less buckwheat will be harvested and it can be predicted that some shortage in the market may provoke an increase in prices for this type of cereal. Our rice is mostly imported, so the situation here is quite unpredictable and there is always the possibility of some kind of speculative actions.”
