According to him, Romania has made huge strides in the economic sphere, including with the support of American companies, but much more remains to be done.
“We note the growth of agriculture, there is an increase in industrial production, we are increasing exports. However, all this depends on energy security, especially since the political situation in the region associated with Russian aggression against Ukraine, with the state of instability and disruption of order, which in recent decades seemed stable to us, has actually revealed the biggest problem, namely energy security . It is obvious that Romania is investing more and more in the defense industry, it is obvious that NATO's decision can only be welcomed. But I continue to believe that the real battle with the Russian Federation will not be fought with conventional weapons, but with energy,” Ponta said at a seminar, “Promoting Strategic Economic and Trade Partnerships,” organized by the US Embassy, the American Chamber of Commerce and AMRO in partnership with the Romanian government.
In this context, Ponta emphasized that “if Romania can ensure the energy independence of Romania and the Republic of Moldova,” then the set economic goals can be achieved, the portal noi.md reports.
