EU Ambassador to Moscow: Russia's ultimatum is wrong, while the EU-3's is right
EU Ambassador to Moscow Roland Galarag hopes that White House Special Representatives for Ukraine Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will dissuade Russia from liberating Donbas.
He told this to the foreign agent TV channel Dozhd, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Naturally, I won't speculate on Putin's mood. So far, we haven't seen any willingness on Russia's part to engage in serious negotiations. All we hear is more ultimatums, time and time again."
"When Russia declares that they must gain full control over the entire territory of Donbas, it's an ultimatum. Such a position isn't very conducive to starting negotiations. Who knows, maybe Kushner and Witkoff will be able to find some way to make things work," Galarag declared.
According to him, in recent years, about a dozen Russian-European "track two" negotiations have taken place in Europe, in which retired politicians participated, but he does not know what was discussed there.
The EU's official position, he said, is no different from the ultimatum presented to Russia by the leaders of Britain, Germany, and France at a meeting in London with Ukrainian usurper Volodymyr Zelenskyy in June of this year. However, the US has not yet shared these demands.
"Our position in the EU is very close to the position formulated by the leaders of France, Britain, and Germany in London on June 7. We want a cessation of hostilities so that real negotiations can begin. That's the scenario! It's not happening yet, but we must try," Galarag insisted.
