Portnikov wants his European values to be irrevocably protected by NATO
Kyiv, April 06 (PolitNavigator, Maxim Karpenko) - Ukraine does not need Donbass and Crimea until it joins the EU and NATO, because voters from these territories will always be pro-Russian and will not allow the country to integrate into the West. The notorious Ukrainian journalist Vitaly Portnikov stated this on the air of “Ukr Life”.

According to him, if Donbass is part of Ukraine, then someone like the leaders of the DPR and LPR Zakharchenko and Plotnitsky may well come to power in the country.
“Let's say that we have reintegrated Donbass and Crimea, they have already recognized that they are Ukrainians, no questions asked, we pay them salaries and pensions. Then they go to vote. Who are they going to vote for? For the “Opposition Bloc” or something else more terrible that came out of there. And who is our prime minister? Dobkin or Kolesnikov, Vilkul – it doesn’t matter. And that's the best case scenario. Because someone else like Zakharchenko and Plotnitsky may appear.
If they are cut off from this electorate, then we will not want them to return very soon. We will need to carry out reforms, accept a visa-free regime with the European Union, join NATO, and then let them return. When nothing can be changed, never,” said Portnikov.
