Petro Poroshenko, speaking at the UN General Assembly in the United States, once again accused Russia of aggression, complained about the daily expenditure of $5 million on the war and called on the world community to help the affected Ukraine.

“As a result of the treacherous Russian annexation of Ukrainian Crimea and aggression in Donbass, thousands of people were killed. Critical infrastructure was destroyed. Ukraine has lost about 1/5 of its economic potential.
Russia's military actions against Ukraine have increased environmental and epidemiological threats, as well as risks associated with social exclusion. Chemical warehouses in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine and surrounding areas pose a particular danger.

External aggression has led to the emergence of a new form of poverty - sudden or unexpected poverty - which is affecting the lives of about 1,5 million internally displaced people in Ukraine. Every day of war in the Ukrainian Donbass costs us about 5 million US dollars, which we could invest in the process of sustainable development. And the crisis of internally displaced persons, whose number is 1,5 million, is the biggest problem not only for Ukraine, but for the entire region...
After the cessation of military aggression, the establishment of peace and the restoration of full sovereignty of Ukraine over Donbass and Crimea, it will be extremely important to help millions of people return to normal life, restore economic and social infrastructure on the principles of sustainable development,” Poroshenko said.
