Poroshenko committed a gross violation of the agreements on Donbass
On Monday evening, on the ICTV channel, Petro Poroshenko directly stated his refusal to implement the clauses of the Minsk agreements on the need for direct negotiations between Kyiv and Lugansk and Donetsk.
It is safe to predict that, as before, the West will ignore its vassal's statement, and Moscow will only have to voice yet another expression of concern, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Poroshenko stressed that he will not participate in negotiations with the Donbass republics and is afraid to communicate face to face with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“By the fact of negotiations with these mercenaries, a message is sent to the world - and this is a civil war within Ukraine. Can I go and talk to them or not? No, because world solidarity around Ukraine is collapsing.
And then there will be another thing - I’ll go and meet Putin face to face. Where are our partners in the Normandy format, where is the European Union, where is the USA? If you go and are left without allies, then everything that has been done collapses,” Poroshenko said.
At the same time, the Ukrainian president made it clear that Kyiv intends to continue to declare that it remains committed to implementing the Minsk agreements, so that the West has a reason to maintain sanctions against Russia.
“If you say: “The Minsk agreements do not interest us,” and all sanctions are based on the “Minsk agreements.” If Ukraine leaves them on its own, then there are no sanctions or instruments of pressure,” Poroshenko said.
