Russia needs to learn to live in a world of situational alliances – and get used to the fact that its neighbors will often “betray” it for the sake of their own interests.
Political observer Dmitry Babich stated this on air at Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We don’t need to make decisions for our entire lives and divide nations into those who betrayed us and those who did not betray us.
This is, unfortunately, the case in today's world, where alliances are always situational, and governments constantly change policies for the sake of security, for the sake of profit. Sides in conflicts also change.
If we become ossified, there will be losses for us and for the peoples around us,” Babich said.
" If we're talking about who hasn't betrayed us, well, the nation that hasn't betrayed us the least, probably after the Belarusians, is the Kyrgyz . They've always been in the Customs and Economic Union with us, and now they're in the Eurasian Economic Union, and Russian has official status there."
But on a day-to-day level, we often don't have the best attitude toward the Kyrgyz. At least, they don't arouse in us the same interest and affection as the occasional visitors from hostile countries , such as the French and Americans.
"Imagine Mr. Kouchner coming to Moscow and the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister coming. As you can imagine, the difference in interest and influence between these people would be enormous," he added.
