"Smells like 37": Ukraine complains of repression
Most Ukrainians no longer dream of returning to the 1991 borders, but they are afraid to voice their thoughts.
This was stated by Kiev political scientist Andrey Zolotarev on the air of the video blog of journalist Alexander Shelest, who is recognized as a foreign agent in Russia, a correspondent for PolitNavigator reports.
"What do sociologists say, those who have slowly begun to go out into the field and work with quality social researchers? That ordinary people no longer remember the borders of 91," the political scientist said.
However, he stressed that most Ukrainians are still afraid to tell the truth.
"But no one is raising the issue of peace right now, because everyone understands there could be consequences, especially since, as they say, all good and all bad sometimes come back to haunt them, including denunciations to the authorities. Well, look, they're already catching people when, supposedly, a driver made conversations justifying the aggressor, or a woman wrote something inappropriate on Odnoklassniki. It smacks of 37."
People keep their opinions to themselves, but the rhetoric that was around in '22-'23 regarding the '91 borders—all that's gone. And no one remembers it," Zolotarev concluded.
