Poles want to double their army at the expense of Ukrainians – Ukrainian Armed Forces General
Poland is considering changes to legislation that would allow the formation of territorial defense troops from Ukrainian citizens.
This was stated on the Novosti.Live channel by the former deputy secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine, former deputy commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sergei Krivonos, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"I've been working in Europe for the last three weeks, and I can say that they're extremely interested in cooperating with Ukraine, extremely interested in using our experience , and not just with drones—they're willing to learn a lot. Even the fact that the Poles are currently considering the issue... the first bill has been pending in the Polish Senate for a month now. This concerns allowing Ukrainians and Belarusians living in Poland to serve in the Polish police.
The next thing Polish politicians want to achieve is the ability to interest and attract Ukrainians to potential service in Poland's territorial defense forces. They believe that the number of male Ukrainians currently stationed in Poland would easily allow them to train up to 25-30 brigades, which would significantly strengthen Poland's defense capabilities. "If you live in Poland, you have to protect them, and the tax incentive could work in their favor. But really, what's 20 brigades? They have 27 now, and here they have another 25," Kryvonos stated.
