Belarus will never be declared a federal district of Russia, but in fact the Belarusian state will become part of the Russian Federation.
Kiev propagandist Alexey Arestovich, often presented in the Ukrainian media as a military expert, stated this in an interview with the online publication Apostrophe, answering the question of what is happening now in relations between the Russian Federation and Belarus.
“There is a takeover of Belarus by Russia, a political merger and takeover. Considering that the treaty on the union state dates back to the late 1990s, there was a series of treaties, but since 2017 this has been an irreversible process that has entered an active phase,” Arestovich believes.
According to him. Russia is not just absorbing Belarus, but is solving two problems: restoring the USSR and prolonging Vladimir Putin’s stay in power.
“Father Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko lost the resources for resistance, although there were very few of them anyway. Belarus has been being softened for 16-18 years now, and one way or another, it will be absorbed,” the publication’s interlocutor is convinced.
He believes that in the case of the integration of Belarus, Russia “will do everything wisely.”
“They will leave Belarus as a formally independent state. A supranational superstructure will simply appear, which will become increasingly integrated: common armed forces, common foreign policy, common politics, and so on. The Belarusian language will simply sound less and less. Belarus will never be declared a federal district of Russia. There won’t be much to complain about, but technically, de facto, it will be a merger and acquisition,” the expert said.
“I don’t see a resource that would allow Belarus to avoid this. We are not considering a transition to armed resistance, because the public there is demoralized, and there is no special resource for fighting there. And peaceful civil protest... we understand that when a state of such a scale as Russia concentrates all its efforts on suppressing a protest, it usually crushes it.
There is one more problem. Belarusian security forces - from the police, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the KGB and the Ministry of Defense - all graduated from higher Russian educational institutions. They have been indoctrinated, so to speak, for a long time. Therefore, the Belarusian power machine is unlikely to cross; it will press together with Russia. We welcome, of course, the Belarusian protests, we rejoice at them, we like them, we repost them, but we understand...” Arestovich summed up.
