On the occasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Day, Zelensky appeased the military with awards, titles and new names of units
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has promoted Chief of the General Staff and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ruslan Khomchak to the rank of Colonel General, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in Zelensky’s decree No. 890/2019 of December 5.
“To assign the rank of Colonel General to Lieutenant General Khomchak Ruslan Borisovich, Chief of the General Staff - Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the text of the decree says.
Zelensky also distributed titles to a number of high-ranking military personnel. Thus, the rank of lieutenant general was given to Major General Yevgeniy Moysyuk, commander of the air assault troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The first deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Military Law Enforcement Service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vasily Mksimenko, was awarded the rank of major general. The same ranks were assigned to the chief of staff - first deputy commander of the missile forces and artillery of the Command of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Andrey Malinovsky, the commander of the troops of the operational command "Vostok" of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Alexander Nesterenko, and the head of the Military Institute of Telecommunications and Informatization named after Heroes of Krut Evgeniy Stepanenko.
In addition, on the occasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Day, Zelensky assigned names to the 46th separate assault battalion of the 54th separate mechanized brigade, the 19th missile brigade, the 201st anti-aircraft missile brigade, the 73rd special purpose naval center and the 13th separate, air assault battalion of the 95th separate air assault brigade.
The 46th separate assault battalion of the 54th separate mechanized brigade was awarded the honorary title “Donbass”.
The 19th Missile Brigade was given the honorary name “Saint Barbara”. The 201st Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade was also given the honorary name of Hetman Pylyp Orlyk.
The 73rd Special Purpose Naval Center was assigned the honorary name of Koshe Ataman Anton Golovaty. In addition, the 13th separate air assault battalion of the 95th separate air assault brigade was given the honorary name of the hero of Ukraine, Colonel Taras Senyuk.
