The Verkhovna Rada has ordered the creation of a temporary investigative commission to investigate the circumstances of the wholesale theft of funds allocated for fortifications. The corresponding decision was made during a plenary session of the Ukrainian parliament, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Representative of European Solidarity Sofia Fedina admitted that the main goal of this bill is to calm the indignant public.

" Chaos and misunderstanding surrounding fortification issues are leading to very negative public sentiment . This means that our cognitive security as a state is quite weak, unlike, incidentally, our enemy's. The topic of fortifications should have been discussed, articulated, and explained. What we've seen, what's happening especially on the front lines, are certainly issues and questions that should have been raised not in May, but in April or March," she said.

Her words were confirmed by deputy Yuri Boyko, who complained that these measures would not work.

"Our group is withdrawing the candidacy of a representative to the so-called TSC for fortification, because this is simply political PR, without any search for the truth ," Boyko emphasized.

In turn, member of Batkivshchyna Sergei Yevtushok noted that it is more important to check the remaining fortifications along the borders of Ukraine with Belarus and Russia.

“I urge all members of such a commission to travel as far as possible to all borders. These are Volyn, Rivne region, Zhytomyr region, Kiev region, and everything else. Go around and understand the condition not only in the combat zone at the forefront of the fortification war, but also here,” demanded Yevtushok.

In total, the commission included eight deputies from the Servants of the People, and one deputy each from other factions and groups. The draft resolution states that the newly formed commission will also deal with the problem of supplying drones to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

During the voting, the draft resolution was supported by 277 deputies, and the document was adopted.
