Last year alone, despite the blockade of Donbass, Ukraine imported three billion dollars worth of anthracite from Russia.

The leader of the Radical Party, Oleh Lyashko, announced this from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Last year, 2017, Ukraine bought almost 16 million tons of Russian coal, for which almost three billion dollars were paid. In Volyn they cannot find a billion hryvnia to complete the construction of a mine, to extract anthracite coal, so that our miners have the opportunity to work and earn money; they have not paid salaries to other associations for months. At the same time, almost three billion dollars were spent on the purchase of imported coal,” Lyashko was indignant.
According to the politician, in the future it will be necessary to purchase gas group coal from the Russian Federation.
“If we previously imported from abroad, as a result, including the blockade of Donbass, only the anthracite group of coal, then the absence of state policy for the development of the coal mining industry will lead to the fact that this year we will already import 40-50% of the gas grade of coal. I’m not even talking about the fact that Naftogaz recently announced that it was resuming purchases of Russian gas,” the deputy said.
