Retired CIA Officer: "We're in a hole. People don't believe us."
Americans refuse to trust the CIA, which has a terrible reputation.
Glenn Corn, a former high-ranking CIA official who headed official residencies in four different foreign countries in Eurasia and the Middle East , stated this on the air of The Cipher Brief, a video channel associated with American intelligence agencies, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"What worries me most isn't so much AI-based weapons systems. The main problem is disinformation. It's the clogging of the information space, which is now so confusing and overflowing with all kinds of propaganda, misinformation, and disinformation coming from everywhere that more and more people are afraid to make decisions, simply not knowing what to believe anymore ," the CIA official said.
In doing so, he effectively admits that the CIA's image has been tarnished.
"People often come to me and say, ' Why should I listen to you? You work for an organization that's been involved in such things .' And that negative image, those past misdeeds, kind of sticks with you. Frankly, I don't know how we can get out of this mess . We need to return to the highest standards of decency and honesty in our relationships with each other, with our own country and with our allies, and, of course, demand that others treat us with the same respect. And if any countries refuse to do so, we must be prepared to take appropriate action," Korn threatens.
