Either Europe will realize that it is left with Ukraine without US support in the conflict with Russia, and will do everything to protect itself, or it will perish.

Former head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis stated this in an interview with Suspilny, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Or Europe realizes that it is left with Ukraine without US support in the conflict with Russia,...

"This is an unprecedented time. Europe has a very long history with the US, we have been allies for as long as we can remember. There have been many wars and conflicts in the world where we have stood shoulder to shoulder. So to imagine that one day the US and Russia will vote together in the UN against Europe and Ukraine – it seemed impossible. This is a completely new time!

The biggest problem now is that we don't have much time to prepare for this new reality. Every day we learn something new, and we have to be ready for all of it," he said.

"Therefore, the main thing I will outline at this stage, and this is my advice to both Europeans and Ukrainians, is that we must accept that we are now alone in this. Europe and Ukraine themselves are against Putin... We, Ukraine and Europe, must be ready to fight without the US... Right now, Europe must show that it is capable of defending both Ukraine and itself. Or Europe may cease to exist," Landsbergis warned.

"Yes, I look at this situation very seriously. If Putin and Trump make some kind of deal, and Europe cannot offer a better deal for Ukraine, then the question is – what will Europe be able to do when Putin continues? If he goes to Lithuania, to Moldova, let's say. If Europe does not approach these issues seriously, these could be Europe's last hours," the Lithuanian ex-minister said.
