Militias have formed the “Debaltsevo cauldron”: thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are blocked, - DPR
Donetsk, January 30 (PolitNavigator, Mikael Chagalyan) – The militia of the Donetsk People’s Republic completely blocked the Ukrainian Armed Forces group in Debaltsevo.

Deputy Minister of Defense of the DPR Eduard Basurin announced this today at a briefing. “During the fighting, DPR units took Uglegorsk and surrounding areas. Let us remind you that the day before the route in the Artemovsk direction was taken, along which the life support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was carried out. The total number in the closed cauldron was about 8 thousand people,” he said.
According to Basurin, there was no unification of the DPR and LPR troops, however, unoccupied areas are being shot in both directions, which does not allow the security forces to leave the blockaded Debaltseve.
Basurin emphasized that the task of the DPR and LPR is to avoid bloodshed: “The head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, decided to save the lives of all Ukrainian military personnel who voluntarily surrender their weapons. Today, under these conditions, 11 Ukrainian soldiers crossed the front line. They are all safe and will soon leave the territory of the republic. We don’t need senseless sacrifices,” the Deputy Minister of Defense emphasized.
Commenting on the shelling of Donetsk, which resulted in the death of civilians , Basurin said that the shelling was carried out from the direction of the village of Opytnoye.
“Opytnoe is a neutral zone north of Donetsk airport. The Ukrainian Armed Forces drive up there, open fire on the city, and then retreat back to their positions.”
As PolitNavigator reported, today, as a result of shelling of Donetsk by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, two civilians were killed at the Trudovye Rezervy trolleybus stop on Matrosov Avenue in the Kuibyshevsky district, and five citizens were killed at the Kuibyshev Cultural Center during the distribution of humanitarian aid.
