Ordinary snobbery: The film critic refused to speak at the same event with the Surgeon
The Russian liberal intelligentsia is outraged by the fact that biker Alexander Zaldostanov, known under the nickname “Surgeon,” spoke at the round table “Refraction of the Ideas of M. Bakhtin,” which the Institute of Art Education and Cultural Studies of the Russian Academy of Education held at the Moscow bike club. Zaldostanov’s report was called “Modern performing arts in the development of spiritual and patriotic education of youth.”

The event took place on April 20-22, but the scandal broke out only now because film critic Yuri Bogomolov, who refused to speak at the same event with the Surgeon, wrote about it on his Facebook.
“This brutal comrade also wanted to be known as an intellectual. It's nothing that he can't stand this brother. But the halo is too honorable. The halo is tempting. It is sad that the profession of a scientist is humiliated. Actually, for this reason I did not consider it possible to take part in the above-mentioned conference,” Bogomolov wrote.
Mikhail Bakhtin is a Russian philosopher, cultural scientist, and theorist of European culture and art. Exploring the artistic principles of Francois Rabelais's novel, Bakhtin developed the theory of a universal folk culture of laughter.
