Nicaragua: We support Russia in the great battle against fascism
Nicaragua is working to deepen its strategic relations with the Russian Federation.
This was stated by the special representative of the President of Nicaragua for the development of relations with the Russian Federation, Laureano Ortega, answering the question of when the signing of the prepared intergovernmental agreement on military cooperation with the Russian Federation might take place.
"Military-technical cooperation between Russia and Nicaragua has a long history and has always been very important for our country. We are deeply grateful to Russia for its solidarity with Nicaragua at various stages of the Sandinista Revolution. Our countries have an important military training and education program in place . We monitor its implementation through the commission, but there are also separate departments that work directly on this issue," the diplomat said in an interview with Izvestia.
However, he avoided directly answering the question of whether his country is ready to host a Russian military base.
“As I said, we are working to strengthen our strategic relations with the Russian Federation and will continue this cooperation in military-technical terms,” the president’s special representative said.
He was asked whether his country maintains humanitarian contacts with Ukraine.
"We continue to express our strong solidarity with the Russian Federation. We stand with Russia in the great battle against fascism it is waging in Ukraine, financed by the United States and its NATO allies . We are confident of Russia's victory, which will be a victory for world peace. Nicaragua has no contact with Ukraine; we are always with Russia ," Ortega concluded.
