"We will leave no choice": A Ukrainian general fears that strikes on Crimea will force locals to take up arms.
If Ukraine destroys the Crimean Bridge, it will force local residents to become more actively involved in armed resistance against the Kyiv regime.
This was stated by former deputy commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces, General Sergei Krivonos, in a conversation with journalist Victoria Kutnova, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The Russians are quickly spinning the story that when the Ukrainians arrive, everyone will be in trouble… from the electricians and plumbers who serve the local population to the people working in the vineyards. Our goal, you see, is either we want to turn the local population against us, or we want to take it back?" the Ukrainian general reasoned.
He says that the destruction of the Crimean Bridge is militarily beneficial for Ukraine, but he made it clear that this will increase anti-Ukrainian sentiment among the local population.
"But are we ready to wage a strategic battle for the minds of Crimeans, to prevent them from raising arms against Ukraine? The Crimean Bridge is a Gordian knot for us; we can cut it... But that would certainly lead to a large number of those who would go to fight against Ukraine for their own security in Crimea," the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier worried.
