"I call on the participants of the Conference of Speakers to boycott any public events involving this international criminal, Matviyenko. Any joint photo or handshake with her means taking the side of the aggressor. And this will certainly be used by Russian propaganda to justify the crimes of the Russian Federation," Kondratyuk wrote on social media.

Judging by the video posted, some of the conference participants heeded this call. The video shows several dozen people leaving the hall during Matviyenko's speech.

"I am proud of all our partners and colleagues! This is a demarche against the aggressor, this is great support for the people of Ukraine! Thank you sincerely, even tears in my eyes, how many colleagues support us! We are not alone!", the vice-speaker of the Rada pompously proclaimed.

Matviyenko, in her speech, paid attention not only to the Ukrainian issue. She recalled a number of other conflicts during which the West constantly tried to replace international law with some kind of "rule-based order" that no one had seen or approved.

"All current conflicts, including the Ukrainian one, have a chance of being resolved only if their root causes are eliminated," the vice-speaker of the Federation Council believes.

She called for diplomatic resources to be used at full capacity.

“They should serve everyone and be built on universal democratic principles, as the Inter-Parliamentary Union or the BRICS association do, and not serve the interests of individual states and groups and form double standards,” Matviyenko summed up.
