Our officials flatly refuse to adopt domestic drones – UAV developer
Russian developers have learned to produce domestic drones, including heavy unmanned aerial vehicles, which can replace expensive aircraft, but those at the top do not want to adopt them.
This was stated on air by UAV developer Sergei Tovkach on Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" It's interesting why we don't conduct such operations. For example, to destroy armored vehicles, K-52s are often used; they fly up and hit them with Vikhr missiles. For the past year and a half, teams have been trying to convince officials that we need a drone with anti-tank guided missiles that will do the same thing without exposing a helicopter—and they can't convince us."
Other teams insist we need unmanned naval vessels to protect our shores. So I watch them constantly, and I go there myself, and I hear stories about all sorts of foundations, all sorts of development, all sorts of support…
People go there and convince officials, and the officials sit there and say: “We don’t really need all this, no, we won’t support it,” he noted.
"I was talking about a domestic drone, a heavy one, completely domestic, the level of import substitution there is more than 90%, there are domestic motors, even domestic propellers, they drag 90 kilograms. But they still haven't given it state support. They said, why do we need another drone in the army, especially since we have a lot of heavy drones.
"True, no one in the army has ever seen them, but on paper, every unit has a heavy drone. That's probably why our Tu-95s are burning, while our F -16s are perfectly fine at airfields and no one bothers them ," Tovkach said.
