Our failure, but not their success – Markov on the losses of strategic aircraft
Attacks on strategic airfields are indeed our failure , but they will have no impact on military operations. Kyiv is no stranger to terrorist attacks on civilian infrastructure, but they have failed to leverage these attacks into pressure during negotiations.
Sergei Markov, Director General of the Institute of Political Studies, expressed this opinion on the air of the First Sevastopol Channel , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Well, yes, this is our failure and the success of Ukrainian intelligence. But it won't affect military operations in any way. As far as I know, we had about five strategic bombers and five transport aircraft damaged . Of the 130 bombers in total, that's about 2% damaged."
Only 10% of these bombers are used on the front lines in Ukraine because cruise missiles are the limit there . There aren't many of them, and they're very expensive, so they're not used in large numbers.
"And if we're talking about strategic forces, these are primarily missiles in silos, on submarines, and on trains. We have quite a few large mobile platforms with such strategic missiles, but they're unlikely to play a major role in this war because they could simply be shot down," he noted.
According to the expert, some external indicators suggest that Americans are irritated by Zelenskyy's terrorist attacks in the Bryansk and Kursk regions . And if Kyiv had any compelling arguments, they would have released them long ago. But if they haven't, it means they don't exist.
